Nirma Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (popularly known as NIRMA or NIM) was established in 1995 by Nirma Education and Research Foundation (NERF) to meet the growing demand for professional managers in Gujarat and the rest of India. Nirma Institute of Management has changed its name and is now known as 'The Institute of Management'. It is situated in a sprawling NERF campus, on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway, about 15 kilometers from Ahmedabad.
This institute has signed an agreement with the New Mexico State University for exchange programmes.
This is a two-year full-time residential programme. The programme offers specialization in Marketing, Finance, Human Resource Management, International Business, Operations Management and Information Technology.
The important themes running across courses are: Internationalism, Ethics and Information Technology. The Programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
Candidates seeking admission to the programme must have a Bachelor's degree with at least 50% aggregate marks.Applicants for the full-time programme have to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs. Candidates shortlisted on the basis of CAT are called for a group discussion and personal interview. Final selection is made on the basis of the candidate's performance in the written test, group discussion, personal interview and work experience.
It is designed specially for working executives and entrepreneurs who aspire to have formal management education to equip them with modern managerial tools and techniques. This program is approved by AICTE.

The applicants are required to appear for the written test to be conducted by the Institute of Management at Ahmedabad. Shortlisted candidates are called for the interview and final selection is made on the basis of performance in the written test and interview.

For the2005-07 batch, 123 students were targeted by companies for the placements. Industry leaders from IT, Auto, Finance and others participated in the event.
The highest package was Rs. 10.2 lakhs per annum by JP Morgan Chase.The average salary grew from 30% from Rs. 5.3 lakhs last year to an outstanding Rs. 6.8 lakhs this year and an incredible 240% in just a space of 4 years. The highest domestic salary offer made was Rs. 20.97 Lakhs which grew by 40% as compared to last year’s figure. Recent placements for the batch of 2006-2008 saw an average salary of 13.15 Lakhs per annum.
