National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai (popularly known as NITIE ) was established in 1963 in the heart of Mumbai, the commercial capital of India. It is one of the premier B-Schools in the country and has been recognized as one of the 15 Centres of Excellence along with the seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), six Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.

PGDIE, the flagship course of NITIE is a two year full time course. It has continuously evolved since 1971, and is designed to transform engineers into management professionals capable of steering organizations along the growth path.The programme covers a variety of courses covering the areas of Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, IT and Systems, Marketing Management, Finance and Human Resources Management.
This course admits students through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination which is followd by Group Discussions and Interview. Selection of Industry sponsored candidates with 2 years industry experience is through personal interview only (NO GATE SCORE REQUIRED.). A total of 111 seats are available in this course.
PGDIM aims to groom young managers who will not only design better procedures and systems but also manage the associated technologies successfully. The course has been modeled along the lines of the General Management Program at MIT Sloan School of Management. The course incorporates a wide range of electives providing the students an opportunity to pursue their functional areas of interest be it Marketing,Finance,Operations,Systems or Human Resources.
This course admits students through the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs.
The course encompasses both a managerial and technical perspectives. It addresses the design, development, management and maintenance of safe and environmentally sound industrial systems and work places. The students are taught the sustainable practices of businesses from the points of view of operations management and process technologies, finance, economics and human resource management.
It has got some Environment and safety specific software to equip our students with a cutting edge technology to gain a deeper insight into the subject like SAFETI-PHAST, ALOHA, SIMAPRO, AIR DISPERSION MODELLING QUAL2E, ISCST, ERDAS IMAGING, ARC VIEW,ARC INFO.

The PGDITM course aims to develop skills which can contribute to contemporary organizations by improving business processes and functions through the planning, implementation and management of information technology. The programme is designed to develop skilled IT and telecom business managers who can use and manage the enterprise network services to revitalize business processes, conduct electronic commerce, improve business decision making and gain competitive advantage.
The course incorporates University Alliance Program with SAP Labs, Germany allowing students to get acquainted with the various SAP modules
The Fellow Programme aims to mould individuals competent enough for a career in academic, research, business and consulting. This programme was started in 1980. An average of four Fellowships is awarded in a year.
The corporate giants picked up young managers in large numbers at NITIE. Consulting giant Ernst & Young made 13 offers, FMCG sector was dominated by Procter and Gamble who made 21 offers, Cognizant Technologies led IT with 21 offers and banking and financial advisory saw ICICI Group make 30 offers this year.
The highest domestic salary offer made was Rs. 20.97 Lakhs which grew by 40% as compared to last year’s figure. Recent placements for the batch of 2006-2008 saw an average salary of 13.15 Lakhs per annum.
Foriegn recruiters include OLAM International , Barclays Capital, Essar Group and Triniti.
