There are two different processes by which a candidate can apply/register for
GATE 2006, namely, "offline" and "online". Details of these processes are given
under How-to-Apply. The
registration-cum-application fee for offline applications is Rs.1000/- for
General candidates and Rs.500/- for SC/ST candidates. The fee for online
application is Rs. 900/- for General candidates and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST
candidates. The application fee is not refundable.

Candidates can appear in the examination
only against valid admit cards. Candidates generally receive Admit Cards by last
week of January 2006. If they do not receive admit cards by 1st February 2006,
they should contact the GATE Chairman of the
concerned zone.
